Today was Golden Days, celebrating when gold was found in Fairbanks. Mom had to work, and her boss asked me if I could come help out, so I did. The shop is right downtown where everything is, which was cool..we just had to walk over to the next street to watch the parade (Ingrid joined us as well!). Today was the annual Rubber Ducky Race on the river..always amusing seeing thousands of ducks floating down the river haha. I had only bought one ticket, but it felt "lucky" somehow. While mom and I waited for the (unofficial) results to be posted, we went to that store with all those awesome polar books..we were finally able to go down into the ( Read more... )

Yesterday was the rubber duckie race on the river! Didn't win again, but it's still fun haha. There was also a festival (this is all part of Golden Days, commemorating when gold was found it Fairbanks). It was reallly warm haha. Yesterday was the annual rubber ducky race on the river. Grandpa and Stephanie were like "wow" haha. We didn't win anything again..ah well. My duck probably got stuck on the tree in the middle of the river :P

Today's trivia: In most advertisements, including newspapers, the time displayed on a watch is 10:10

The duckies seemed to go downriver faster than last year..maybe the current is different when the river is low? I didn't win anything (mom can't find her's and Ryan's tickets so they don't know). I went to the festival for awhile and bought some glacier pictures at a store downtown haha (they had a bunch! I only bought 3 though :P)

This week Golden Days (celebrating gold found in Fairbanks) has been going on. I've seen this "jail" where Nina told me if you're not wearing a Golden Days pin someone can put a "warrant" out for your arrest and drive you around town in the jail haha. We didn't win anything at the duck race..oh well haha. After that we saw The Dark Knight. Wowww Heath Ledger did a great job..why did he have to die?? That guy's face after he got burned was SCARY. Haha and Heath in a nurse's unform blowing things up..nice haha
